Austrian Microsystems

ams develops and manufactures high performance analog semiconductors that solve its customers' most challenging problems with innovative solutions.

ams' products are aimed at applications which require extreme precision, accuracy, dynamic range, sensitivity, and ultra-low power consumption.

ams' product range includes sensors, sensor interfaces, power management ICs and wireless ICs for customers in the consumer, industrial, medical, mobile communications and automotive markets.

17 December 2012   -   Integrated Solution for Automotive Battery Sensing

New AS8515 from ams provides integrated solution for automotive battery sensing.

The sensor interface, which combines signal processing, voltage regulation and LIN transceiver in a single package, provides highly accurate and linear current, voltage and temperature measurement outputs.

21 November 2012   -   Contactless Hall-based Magnetic Position Sensor

The AS5161 is a contactless Hall-based magnetic position sensor for very accurate angular measurement over a full turn of 360°.

A sub range can be programmed to achieve the best output characteristic for the application. A simple diametrical 2-pole magnet rotating on the center of the IC is required: the magnet may be placed above or below the IC.

7 November 2012   -   High Speed Passive Tag Interface

New interface chip from ams drives down the cost of adding high data-rate NFC capability to microcontroller designs.

AS3953 NFiC® offers full bi-directional near field communication, while harvesting energy from RF emissions.

The device is ideal for applications like Passive wake-up, Multipurpose HF interface to a controller, Low power or passive programming, Ultra Low Power Data Logger, RFID Programmable configuration EEPROM, ISO 14443A smart card, NFC Forum Tag Type 4, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi pairing.

11 September 2012   -   AS3661 - Smartlight LED Driver IC

ams' AS3661 - Programmable, 9 ch smartlight LED driver designed to produce lighting effects for mobile devices.

Product ideal for indicator lights, LD backlighting, and programmable current source.

14 August 2012   -   AS3935 Franklin Lightning Sensor IC

The AS3935 is a programmable Lightning Sensor IC that detects the presence and approach of potentially hazardous lightning activity in the vicinity.

It detects intra-cloud activity as well as cloud to ground flashes, often enabling risk to be evaluated for approaching storms.

27 July 2012   -   New Noise-Cancelling IC for Wireless Headsets

Lower power consumption AS3421, AS3422 single chip ANC solutions with integrated speaker driver optimized for use with Bluetooth-enabled headset systems-on-chip.

The successful implementation of ANC dramatically reduces the perceived volume of external noise, enabling the desired receive-path audio signal to be heard against a nearly silent background.

18 June 2012   -   300mA, DC-DC Buck-Boost Converter

The AS1331 is a synchronous buck-boost DC/DC converter which can handle input voltages above, below, or equal to the output voltage.

Due to the internal structure of the AS1331 which is working continuously through all operation modes, this device is ideal for single cell Li-Ion and multicell alkaline/NiCad/NiMH applications.

The AS1331 operates on lowest quiescent current of 22µA only resulting in highest efficiency up to 90% over a wide range of load currents. Combined with a shutdown current of typically 100nA, the AS1331 extends the lifetime of battery powered applications to a maximum.

The AS1331 allows a small solution footprint and external component count is also minimized. For power monitoring, the AS1331 offers either low battery detection or a power-ok feature offering flexibility for the design of applications. Additionally the AS1331 offers current limiting, thermal shutdown and output disconnect.
